Pressure Gauge
Introduction
Pressure gauges provide vital real-time measurement for monitoring hydraulic, pneumatic, and process systems across various industrial applications. Tempsens manufactures a complete range of mechanical pressure instruments—from utility-grade Bourdon tube gauges to full-scale diaphragm assemblies—for chemical processing, oil and gas, food manufacturing, and power generation industries. Certified to IS 3624 and EN 837, these gauges offer full-scale accuracies of ±0.25% to ±1.6%, with measurement ranges from vacuum to 2100 Kg/cm².
Available in dial sizes ranging from 40mm to 250mm, they are constructed using either stainless steel or drawn steel. Tempsens pressure gauges feature argon arc welded joints, glycerin-dampened options, IP65 & IP68 ingress protection, and are designed for corrosive, high-vibration, and hazardous environments with NACE or IBR certification.

About Pressure Gauge
Key Features
- Broad Pressure Ranges: Measurement from -1 to 2100 Kg/cm² with compound, absolute, and gauge pressure selections in utility and industrial models.
- Various Dial Sizes: Dial sizes of 40mm, 50mm, 63mm, 100mm, 150mm, and 250mm have been selected for visual clarity in control panel and field applications.
- Accuracy Classes: ±0.25% and ±0.50% FSD accuracy are provided for master gauges, ±1% and ±1.6% FSD for industrial and utility.
- Bourdon Tube Construction: C-type and helix-style Bourdon tubes are provided in brass or SS316 with argon arc welded joints ensuring that leak paths do not exist.
- Sealed Diaphragm Configurations: PD1 through PD6 series offer compact, Schaffer, tri-clover, flanged and capsule diaphragm models for viscous and corrosive media.
- IP65/IP68 Protection: Cases are sealed. Optional damping with glycerin or silicon oil reduces vibration while providing stability to the pointer.
- Stainless Steel Wetted Parts: Components including the Bourdon tube, diaphragm, and socket of the gauge are SS316 to withstand aggressive chemicals and to facilitate sanitary applications.
- 130% Over-Range Protection: Installed safety features include a blow-off disc to prevent case rupture resulting from over-pressure beyond full-scale deflection.
- Versatile Mounting Options: The mounting options include bottom direct, back direct, surface mount, panel mount; and bracket options in 1/8″ – 2″ BSP/NPT connection sizes.
Working Principle of Pressure Gauges
Bourdon tube pressure gauges operate through the elastic deformation of a curved metal tube with an elliptical cross-section. When pressure is applied, the flattened tube straightens in proportion to the pressure applied, causing mechanical movement via a gear-and-pinion connection to rotate the indicator pointer. C-type Bourdon tubes can measure pressure up to 600 Kg/cm², while helical tubes can measure up to 1500 Kg/cm².
Diaphragm pressure gauges operate with a flexible stainless steel membrane that deflects under pressure differential, transferring movement to the indicator pointer mechanism through either a sealed hydraulic connection or a continuous mechanical linkage. Sealed diaphragm gauges keep sensitive Bourdon elements isolated from corrosive, viscous, or crystallizing process media while maintaining Bourdon gauge functionality. These are often required for sanitary food processing and pharmaceutical applications, where cleaning-in-place (CIP) or sterilizing-in-place (SIP) protocols are used, and tri-clamp or flanged diaphragm connections are preferred.
Applications of Pressure Gauges
- Hydraulic Power Systems: Used in everything from press machines to injection molding machines, mobile hydraulics, lifting systems, etc., measured to 0-1000 Kg/cm², with shock protection.
- Compressed Air Networks: Compressor discharge checks, receiver tank pressure, pneumatic tools Distributed throughout the manufacturing facility.
- Oil & Gas Extraction: Well head measurements, mud pump discharge measurements (heavy duty gauges rated to 1000 Kg/cm²), and separator vessel control.
- Chemical Processing: Reactor control, distillation column measurements, pipeline measurements all with sealed diaphragm protections to corrosive media.
- Water Treatment Plants: Filter differentials readings; reverse osmosis membranes, pump discharge measures (capsule gauges for 0-25 Kg/cm²).
- Food & Beverage Manufacturing: Sanitary diaphragm gauges for homogenizer pressures, pasteurization equipment, and sterile process validation (tri-clamp fittings).
- Refrigeration Systems: Follow evaporator and condenser pressures, test compressor performance, and cryogenic applications with glycerin dampening for shock protection.
- Steam & Boiler Applications: Safety valve verification, feed water pump discharge gauge measurement, and gauge measurement as per IBR standards with master gauge traceability.
- Marine & Offshore: Engine room hydraulic systems, ballast systems, and cargo pumps on marine applications that demonstrate corrosion resistance against saltwater and shock.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to frequently asked questions related to Pressure Gauge.
Pressure gauges can measure gauge pressure (based on atmospheric or ambient pressure), absolute pressure (based on a vacuum), compound pressure (vacuum to positive), and differential pressure. The selection can be based on the application.
Brass is fine for non-corrosive water and air. Select SS316 wetted parts for chemical service or saltwater. The sealed diaphragm with PTFE coating protects against aggressive or sanitary media.
