BraggSenz sensor system works on fiber Bragg grating (FBG) technology designed for multi-point temperature, strain, load, and vibration measurement over hundreds of meters of fiber optic cable in extremely harsh environments.
Fiber Bragg Grating is a type of distributed optical reflector that reflects a specific wavelength known as Bragg wavelength while transmitting all others. This is accomplished by adding a periodic variation to the refractive index of the core of a fiber creating fixed index modulation known as grating. When a broadband light is passed through grating the Bragg wavelength is observed at interrogating unit. When the temperature or strain around the grating change, it shrinks or expands accordingly and a shift in Bragg wavelength is observed corresponding to that change in the parameter.
