What Is Annealing — and Why Does It Matter?
Annealing is a heat treatment that enhances the flexibility, softness, and workability of metal. It is accomplished by heating the material to a certain temperature, maintaining it there, and cooling it in a manner that is controlled.
When the process is properly controlled, the result is a stress-free, high-quality finish. But if not, you risk brittle, oxidized, or warped components. That’s why the CMB 900 has multiple heating zones and a conveyor belt that moves — to maintain conditions uniformly across every part.
Heating Setup That’s Made to Last
One thing that really helps is the use of FeCrAl heating elements. If you’ve worked with industrial furnaces, you know that most heating elements degrade over time. FeCrAl handles heat better and doesn’t wear out as quickly. It’s placed both above and below the heating chamber, so your material gets evenly cooked — no hot spots or cold zones.
There are three heating zones, each with its own control system, so you can set temperatures differently depending on what you’re processing.
Speed That You Control
Different materials take different amounts of time to heat. That’s where the variable speed conveyor comes in. You can slow it down to around 10 mm per minute or speed it up to 80 mm per minute. Pretty handy when you’ve got a range of part sizes and thicknesses to deal with. Just set the speed, watch your soak time, and let it do its job.
Say Goodbye to Oxidation
Here’s where a lot of furnaces fall short: oxidation. If your metal starts reacting with oxygen while it’s hot, you end up with discoloration or scale — and then you’re spending time cleaning it up.
This oven avoids that completely by running on cracked ammonia gas, which creates a reducing atmosphere. Basically, it pushes the oxygen out and surrounds the metal with hydrogen, which protects it from reacting. And, it’s safe because there are LPG burners on both sides that burn off any extra hydrogen. So you’re getting a clean part.
Cooling Without the Shock
Once the part has been heated and held at temp, it moves into a water-cooled zone because controlled cooling is just as important as the heating part.
If things cool too fast, you risk cracking or distortion. The stainless steel cooling section handles that by bringing down the temp gradually and evenly.

Applications
- Bright annealing of stainless, brass, or copper
- Wire, strip, or sheet processing
- Lines where you don’t want to stop for every batch
- Any shop that needs clean, oxidation-free parts, every time
Accessories
Tempsens didn’t stop at the basics. There’s:
- A chiller unit to keep gasket areas cool
- Meters for load monitoring, so you always know how the system is running
- Full customization options — you can change belt width, heating length, temperature range, gas input, etc.
- The whole thing is validated, so it’s not just theory — it’s tested.
Safety Is Built In
- Hydrogen burn-off system with LPG
- Door lockout that shuts off heating if the door’s open
- Alarms for over-temp and gas failure
- Emergency shutdown switch
- And water cooling around gaskets to keep them from breaking down
Conclusion
If you’re looking for an annealing oven that just gets the job done — without a bunch of tweaking or after-treatment work — this one is worth a serious look. It handles high heat, keeps the atmosphere clean, and lets you run continuously with confidence.
