ABOUT
Fiber Bragg Grating Sensor For UAE & Gulf Countries
Introduction
FBG (Fiber Bragg Grating) technology is making a significant impact on how we measure things optically optically across the UAE and Gulf region. It provides accurate and repeatable readings in a lot of different fields and industries. FBG sensors use a single mode fiber that has been altered to create a distributed bragg reflector that reflects and transmits certain wavelengths when hit with light from an unfiltered light source. Due to the Wavelength Selective response of the sensor, it will automatically give you an accurate reading of how much change due to a range of different measured features including temperature, strain, vibration, and pressure. Tempsens Instruments has been a pioneer in the field of FBG sensing systems, combining state-of-the-art technology with the requisite engineering durability, to provide customers with superior solutions for very rugged applications where traditional sensor solutions will not operate. The unique property of these sensors with no susceptibility to electromagnetic interference and their ability to be multiplexed allow them to be used for critical application monitoring in a wide variety of industries including Aerospace and Civil Infrastructure throughout the Gulf region.

About Fiber Bragg Grating Sensor
Fiber Bragg Grating Sensors Principle
The principle behind how FBG-type sensors work is based on the interaction of light and matter through the fiber core. If the grating structure of the sensor is affected by mechanical strain or temperature changes, then the periodic spacing between the gratings will alter, resulting in a measurable shift in the reflected Bragg wavelength. This shift can be calibrated against temperature or mechanical strain, thus allowing the accurate measurement of these physical properties. Since the FBGs can be constructed along the entire length of the fiber, then a great number of sensors (multiple gratings) may be accommodated on one single optical fiber system and configured for multipoint sensing.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to frequently asked questions related to Fiber Bragg Grating Sensor.
FBG sensors are capable of operating within a temperature range from -20 degrees Celsius up to 900° C, which is well within the extreme temperatures experienced by deserts. Additionally to their wide operating temperature range, FBG sensors provide stable measurements for applications in extreme desert environments. The thermal characteristics of the fiber optic material help protect the sensor from thermal degradation due to rapid temperature transitions associated with desert climates.
Typical temperature accuracy are ±1°C with an FBG sensor. The sensors have a large signal-to-noise ratio and therefore allow you to accurately detect minute changes in environmental conditions.
The cost of a fiber Bragg grating sensor will depend on the configuration of the channels, how many sensors you would like to install, the temperature ranges, and the length of the cable used to install the sensor. One of the ways that Tempsens provides value for customers is by offering affordable options for all types of monitoring applications, from single-point systems to complete multi-channel networks.
The Fiber Bragg Grating Sensor has a price point based on its channel configuration, amount of sensing points supported, temperature range and cable length. Tempsens have a competitive price offering that ranges from cost-effective single-point solutions up to full multi-channel networks designed for maximum value for all types of monitoring needs.
